S21 ultra february firmware update - camera improved!

Just installed the new feb update (OTA). There is a definite improvement to the overall camera performance. Shutter lag is has decreased significantly, cpu doesn't get as hot with normal use. 10 min of video at UHD 60 gets the phone to 42c. The only significant problem remaining now is the portrait mode. It still is very cpu exhausting with heavy processing going on and cpu temp of 45c. Note cpu throttling still occurs as eivdent by dropping 3dmark scores, but this does not happen with a couple of minutes of camera use unless portrait mode is on. Significant improvement, still some way to go.

I find the phone overall not as smooth as it was before the update. We need some picture quality improvements next.

Haven't had time to do an in-depth camera test but I am loving this latest update, AUB3, for the S21 series and currently available for the non carrier U.K. models, CSC code BTU. Carrier branded versions for O2, (O2U), Three. (H3G), and Vodafone, (VOD), will take a little longer to roll out as always.

Following the update I used best practice and wiped the cache partition to clear any detritus from the previous firmware and i must say, this phone flies. Fast scrolling, good battery life, no overheating and the baseband/modem is giving me an improved signal.

cant see any improvement in the camera, but then again i havent had any issues with the camera - the update was fairly small at 290MB so i dont expect much has changed - some apps seems to lag more now in 120hz qhd, and the phone seems less hot ....the screen seems more sensitive - got more accidental touches than before

Hi there,

did anyone find a way to adjust or turn off completely the sharpening on this phone? Photos look horrible - not even close to anything natural, my S9 made much better looking photos overall.

As much as I've not had the hand burning temperatures others have reported, just bear in mind those temperatures during winter... then imagine during the summer... 😞
