Messenger app problems after phone update

After phone update my messenger chat not displaying row of contact along top. Also end to end privacy setting on secret conversation is greyed out.

Try to delete the Messenger app then reinstall it? See what happens.

Same here. Have had to uninstall and reinstall messenger 5 times so far to get onto it! Really frustrating!
