Is it the scrolling that's stuttering ?
If its app's then try closing down the apps and clear the caches of the one's that are not playing nice.
Changing the refresh rate shouldn't really be causing this however.
One extra step is to clear the phone's System Cache Files.
Clear your phone's System Cache Files by turning your phone Off and then from a set series of button presses go into the phone's System Files and clear the cache. No information is lost this way. If you go back to adaptive does stuttering stop ?
I would Hope this isn't going to need a factory reset.
