Apps not updating

Hi, since the latest Android update I have a peculiar problem with Play Store.
It doesn't hold any apps for updates, but when I open an app, could be any app, it promptly appears in Play Store and I can update.
I am used to that Play Store shows me a list with apps that need an update, but now I have to open EVERY app on my phone to see if it pops up in Play Store for an update.
What could be causing this?

What samsung phone are you using? I know from experience with an S5 that older phones don't work well with modern software

Hi have you recently put apps to deep sleep in Device care> battery> sleeping apps. Putting apps to deep sleep disables them until use.
