Any time i get a message on the bottom of the screen it stays for 45 seconds to a minute. It doesn't stop me from doing anything just annoying. How do I shorten the time it is up? 20200329_142534.jpg

The shortest time is "Default", which is the Default notification time set by the developer. If you want shorter than that you need to contact the developer or Google and ask them to modify the base settings because 1 person out of tens of millions of users doesn't want to receive an unobtrusive notification on the bottom of their screen. The time to take action option is simply to extend the period of time a notification message is shown, it doesn't create the actual notification.
It's an accessibility feature, just because it doesn't benefit you that doesn't make it garbage.
If I remember, I never had that problem with my Nokia 3310, get yourself one on ebay and chill with a game of snake

Helped me tremendously. I no longer notice the messages at the bottom & was able to help others on a reddit post as well.

On Android 9 it only popped up for 2-5 seconds and now its stock 15 seconds to a minute unless changed to 10 seconds which 10 seconds is even too long. What the hell was the point of making it longer when it's annoying and more often than not, prevents typing?

Thank you for providing the answer to an issue that I also found very annoying, though you encased it in a needlessly snarky response. I don't think the 'asker' meant to imply that this particular feature was "garbage," just that it can be annoying to some users. Those of us who are less 'technologically savvy' seek out answers from people like you because we want to maximize the usefulness of our devices. If you want to help, than do so without the added negative commentary. Thanks for the help though.

OMG!!!! I was on chat with Samsung pro for what seems like forever. They could not help me. She had me resetting stuff. And nothing helped. Tried what you said and just like that my phone is back to normal. Thank you so much.

Thank goodness. I was ready to chuck my s20 fe. Didn't have this issue on my s10. Now on the fe those messages were staying on for 15 seconds. The setting was on 10 seconds but it was 15 seconds. Put it on default and now down to 3 seconds
