Hi all,

I currently still have my trusty Galaxy S8 from 2018 which I love but is slowing down a bit now, the battery isn't too great now and 64GB internal storage is a struggle.
I'm looking at getting an S20 model instead as I prefer to have expandable micro SD storage.
My brother has an S20 Plus so fancied one of the other models rather than the same one.
The S20 5G I'm quite fond of as the size is not much bigger than my S8. I'm unsure about the FE and Ultra based on their size. Looking at specs the basic S20 5G seems to be quite impressive with 8k video etc.
Can anyone give me advice please on experience with the 3 different ones at all?

Many thanks

Thanks, I'll maybe have a look at my brothers again next time I see him. I must admit I haven't heard him complain about it. I pondered about whether the Ultra or even FE were any better as the prices have gone down now.

If you want the best camera and best display go for ultra. If yu just need it to work with a good camera and good display go for the plus. Never the standard s20

One thing you need to consider is that it won't receive the Android 14 software as it's reached the end of the major software updates with it getting quite old now.

Thanks, so the S20 and the FE are bad options?

Good point, I wish they hadn't pushed all new models to be cloud based for storage as like to keep my files on the phone. I have a 512gb sd card in my galaxy s8 for pics and vids etc. That I can view when there's no signal

As the guys mentioned in the comments. The phone is quite old now. It won't get any more major OS updates. But you can consider other alternatives. Like the A54 which is a great smartphone or last year A53. Or you might want to consider waiting when Samsung releases the S23 FE somewhere around December. It's already released down in the states.

Thanks, I did consider the A54, my other half has an A34 and loves it. Shame Samsung got rid of the SD card support in new S models. One thing I'd miss would be wireless charging on the A models.

A34 is a good phone especially the performance. The design on the looks exact same on the S series phone. I can understand where your coming from about wireless charging. I do wish A series had it. But overall A54 and A34 has something for everyone depending on what features you want and like.
