Hi so I know that this is older. But I just tried my Note 20 Ultra s-pen in my Note 9. And it did work. But with limited functionality. The Pen will not actually pair with the Note 9. But it does detect it. And when I pull the Note 20 Ultra s-pen out of the note 9 the note 9 does recognize it and everything seems to be okay. But like I said you cannot pair it with the phone. But if you want to use the s-pen from the Note 20 on the Note 9 with limited functionality then I say yes it will work. The Note 20 Ultra s-pen also DOES fit in the Note 9, and it will even charge it, but it will not lock into place, so don't keep it there unless you want it to fall out. Sorry to make this answer so in depth. But if you want to use the s pen from the note 20 on the note 9 yes it does work and it works fine. Like I said the Note 9 does see it. And will allow some functionality. But you will not fully be able to pair it. Just thought I would answer so you're not chasing link after link. A straight answer.
