Gallery app with black thumbnails

Please help! Before my eyes all (3000) of my camera pictures now have a black thumbnail and are dated with the same date, Friday to be exact. 

I use Google photos to backup and now so are black there too. Albums appear to be fine.

I've gone to app→ gallery→cleared cache

I've also restarted twice.

I'm on an older Note+ 10

It maybe due to Microsoft one drive taking over gallery app, it you have a cloud on top right corner as ya open gallery, for Microsoft one drive to be synced it would be a cloud. When it's turned off its a cloud with a line through middle diagonally through it. I found when they made Microsoft take over, my own photos did this and I had to unsync and save to Google. They returned to normal. If that isn't the issue, you may have activated private folder which asks a pin/password/biometrics to be used to open pictures/videos stored to that folder, if the pin or password is forgotten or isn't approved in the 5 attempts. It will delete and remove them fully unfortunately. I'd try to see if it's Microsoft first, to me it sounds like that more as it did it to my old phone the Samsung s21g I'm on the Samsung s23 now.
