Finally got the chance to visit here last year after hearing about it several years ago.
Piel Island lies in Morecambe Bay, around 1⁄2 mile (800 metres) off the southern tip of the Furness peninsula, Cumbria, England. It is one of the Islands of Furness, three of which sit near to Piel at the mouth of Walney Channel. The island is the location of Piel Castle, built by the monks of Furness Abbey in the fourteenth century.
This beautiful little island has its own King, a castle ruins & a pub which is run by the king.
Access to the island is via a 12 passenger foot ferry that runs daily, if the weather and tide permit, between Roa Island and Piel Island.
Waiting for the ferry over to the island.
