I wasn't a member in 2024 and since people like seeing astro shots, Here are my S22 Ultra shots. But to be honest I was recording the event with my Canon 80D with a 400mm and 2x tele-extender. My Mavic 3 Pro drone for video and handheld S22U with a set of filtered glasses over the lens.
To start I was very lucky that my sis in law's house was in the path of totality in Sheldon Vermont, so I didn't have to go anywhere, but!!! The morning weather report brought concern. Clouds were moving across NY state towards VT and 2 hours before the event I saw this on the horizon (Note, all pics taken with S22U)
We were lucky over all and we weren't rained out... But I spent a few hours considering my options and finally decided to chance it and stay where we were.
But as it got closer to the start of the event light upper-level clouds covered the sky but remained whispy. It turns out they were laden with ice crystals, which caused this sun halo.
As you can see the halo was a beautiful effect. After the event was over and I was back home I zoomed in on the green dot that was in many of these pictures and it showed to be a reflection of the eclipse happening above.
But while I was clicking away with my Canon camera, I was also grabbing handheld shots of the eclipse as well.
Finally, we entered the path of totality, and it was as amazing as they say. Even now, a year later, I can feel the intense anticipation and excitement that washed over me that afternoon.
We entered the path of totality
The event was so intense that I will admit I missed a couple of critical shots going in but cleared my head and caught them coming out (Baily's beads and the diamond ring) But they were only caught with my Canon camera so I'm not posting them here.
Totality
The 3 minutes were over so incredibly fast that you don't have a chance to get used to the feelings that wash over you. All too soon the main event (totality) is over and the sun begins to leave totality.
leaving totality
Even today almost a year later, I'm still in awe of the event that I was able to both witness and capture. Now I do have images of the diamond ring and Baily's Beads but those were captured with my Canon Camera. If you find a way to message me I can send a link but this is a gallery where I sell my work so I won't post it here.
Again all of these images were taken with my S22U and last month I upgraded to the S25U and after 3 iterations, it seems to be a good replacement for my S22U.

What an incredible experience that must've been. Still amazed over the fact that you could see the reflection of the eclipse from the ice crystals in the cloud cover! Not jealous at all...

I was very lucky with the location of the totality. I saw rentals skyrocketed in price so it left the difficult part to whether I could accurately capture the event. At my age, I will not live to see another on this continent. So this was my bucket list item...

thanks, I practiced for months and bought a solar filter and other pieces to make this easier but it is a singular event. I'm looking to see what else I can learn here to make my work better.
