Warped A53 5G

Hello all.

I've owned an A53 5G from new, which I bought direct from Samsung. It has been well cared for and in immaculate condition. Sadly, just 5 weeks after the 2 year warranty period expired, the display dimmed and it stopped working. I went through the warranty process with one of Samsung's repair partners and they wanted £300 to repair it. They told me that the phone was bent, which apparently happens over time.

Has anyone had a similar experience to this and what was the outcome? How the hell can a phone bend without anything being broken externally? I'm pretty annoyed about this because it wasn't cheap and I expected this phone to last more than 2 years. I didn't think anything like this could happen. Have Samsung created a dud?

I assume non normal pressure such as carrying the phone around in a tight trousers pocket, or in the back pocket , which many people do 🤔 could be the culprit.

Is it a subtle bend ?

If you place the phone on a level surface does it rock ?

Other than that I do not know why the phone could bend.

If Samsung have assessed the phone and provided that statement them unfortunately they'll most probably stick to that assessment.

It wouldn't harm to question that assessment however @jq1805

If you have other sources of insurance such as Home Contents Insurance, or some bank accounts provide cover as a perk of the account then that could be another option to take.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Hi, just had the same problem, A53 5g, immaculate condition and the frame is bent from having it in my pocket apparently. What is shows is that the phone has a design fault, the frame is too weak for everyday use. Having it stored in your pocket should not result in damage. If Samsung are aware of this happening to their phones then they should warn customers.
