putting app icons in alphabetical order

Somehow, A25 phone reorganized itself this morning: new home screen and apps all out of order. I got the home screen in shape, but the app icons are not in alphabetical order. I've gone to Apps through settings and chosen Sort and Alphabetical order, and they are in alphabetical order in that list. But the icons are a mess! (I've also turned the phone off and on and checked for updates. How can I get the icons into order? Thanks!

When you select alphabetical order and your in the vertical app draw create a folder with any 2 apps. Now add all the your apps to the folder. Change the sorting to custom and your back in the horizontal app draw. Now delete the folder and all your apps will be in alphabetical order again.

Thanks, but I tried a test folder, but there's no option for sorting within a folder. So that doesn't work.

Click on the 3 dots in the search bar in the app draw. Select sort and then alphabetical. Drag 2 apps together to create a folder. Long press on the folder and click on the + sign. Select all your apps then click done. Click on the 3 dots in the search bar and click sort and then custom. Now you're back in the horizontal app draw long press on the folder and select delete. All your apps will now be in alphabetical order in the horizontal app draw.

I do not have "sort" as an option when I click the 3 dots in the Search bar--just "Settings" (for search settings, no sorting) and "Choose apps to search in."
