Phone only charges when it's powered off

My phone only charges when it's powered off but when it's on it does say it's charging but percentage isn't going up.  Could it be a software or a hardware issue? I've also tried restartin g and switching cables.

It started happening to my A41 too today. Not charging when turned on. I tried multiple chargers and multiple cables.

It does charge when powered off and I can see battery percentage going up. I turned it on again and again not charging.

Turning on in safe mode or in power safe mode and flight mode does not help. The battery  is not charging!

Only when turned off it is charging. WTH

It's no longer just the charging, although I can't find the energy to open another post.

I went to the zoo today, and a tiger popped up and walked across it's entire enclosure, took nearly 10 seconds.

It took my A53 about 11 seconds to open the camera, focus and take a photo, so I got a lovely photo of grass.

The phone is unusable after a few software updates, and all Samsung can do is offer me a deal on the latest model.

I am going to look for another android phone. Used to go with Samsung but not anymore. Sometimes I think they're doing this on purpose, flip a switch to f me up tricking me into buying a new model.

As one of the posts rightly pointed out it is the cable issue. My phone started same problem since yesterday. I did not doubt the charger or cable as it is charging other devices perfectly .  But when it started charging in power off mode I immediately knew it is sending some signal in power on mode. Did change couple of 3rd party cables but no luck. Finally used a small Sony cable used for connecting devices. Eureka moment. It starts charging in either mode , I.e  both in off & on mode. Looks like Some additional sensing after a software update.

With the Sony cable it went from 14% to 28% in 30 minutes but then increasing  1% every 30 minutes now. Very strange behaviour. Samsung need to seriously look in to this😂

Here's what happens next....

The finger print sensor will become slow, rather than a quick unlock it now takes between 3 and 5 seconds to unlock the phone..

When you try to take a photo,   you will have to press and hold the button, otherwise it just doesn't take the picture.

When you try to share a photo using something like WhatsApp, it will take 10 seconds to think about it before it gives you the options to choose...

Every software update just makes this phone slower, and more unusable.

Samsung are doing a great offer on trade in. Which is nice.
