Last night I did a Google play update through the app in the settings menu, I'd never seen permission controller running in the background before as I daily check device care, battery to see what's running
To block 🚫 ive gone to settings. Apps system Apps search permission controller
Android overlay. this has stopped the background activity

Hi @lance78, Permission Controller is a built-in service for Android that manages your privacy by controlling the data your apps have access to.

In layman's terms, when you download and install a new app you may get requests for it to access various features of your phone, such as the camera, microphone, location, contacts, etc. Permission Controller is the thing that handles those queries, so it's perfectly safe to leave running on your phone.

Of course, if you'd rather not having it running in the background, that's absolutely fine as well. Just putting your mind at ease. 🙂

Thank you for the info as it was warming up the device. I checked all the apps in settings permission manager like the ones you mentioned and no apps were using permission controller
