Not on sale in the UK

I like the look of the new Galaxy A16 5G, but the model offered by Samsung in the UK is 4gb ram 128gb storage.

But a 8gb ram 256gb model is available from Amazon, eBay etc.

4gb ram is pretty much the bare minimum nowadays, so I’d much prefer the 8gb version. But Samsung simply tried to sell me the, more expensive, A36.

I understand that these are probably non-uk imports. But what are the disadvantages?

Sometimes it's like that, however, you have to be cautious with purchasing from other areas, but if you are in Europe and you purchase a phone from another European country it should be OK to be used, you just have to make sure it's not locked and check that the IMEI number corresponds.

Depends on a lot of things. Eg, a 16gb s25u model exists in Asia, but we get the 12gb model.

Samsung probably had a look at their data and came to the conclusion most British people don't want to pay for more ram on the cheapest phone samsung sells. (Ignoring the 0 series but I don't think they sell that here).

If someone here wants more ram, they'd get a better phone. In other countries, they might have come to the conclusion the population needs more ram and would pay for it.

As a little reminder, a16. A means budget line, 1 is how 'good' the device is on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the most budget. 6 meaning how new it is.

So the a16 is the newest version of the cheapest phone samsung sells.

Also word of warning, importing a phone then using an English sim in it will 90% of the time stop all system updates to the phone. As the phone is in the wrong country

Samsung phones typically hold all the frequencies and bands to work on most network's.

The Manufacturer's Warranty is now global. 

You may find that the Samsung Members App benefits is blank. 

And Samsung Wallet may not work.

 I lived in Thailand and Cambodia for five years and bought a Samsung phone over there. When I returned to the UK, and changed SIM cards, it continued working with no problems.
