New phone-Czech in UK-will it be ok?

Hi there,

Hoping someone can help as I'm not sure if it is an issue and should be returned to the vendor.

Bought on Amazon Prime Day for my daughter and when restarting the phone it's showing an 'czech o2' loading screen.

Everything seems to work as expected although she did mention some lag when loading some web pages but everything seems fine ATM.

Will this be an issue further down the line or should I contact the vendor and try to return?

Thanks

I think that is the global version of the A14 device, but if you are worried about firmware updates and service in the UK, I would suggest you contact Samsung support through the members app to check.

Hi,
You could try Below

Change your Google Play country

In a browser, go to

pay.google.com.

At the top, click Settings.

Under 'Payments profile', next to 'Country/Region', click Edit .

To create a new Google Pay profile and link it to a new country or region: ...

The Google Play Store automatically changes to the new country or region

If the above from @xSteveuk doesn't work, then it may have been due to initial set up with CZ language or country chosen by your daughter (likely in error).

You could potentially factory data reset the device and when starting it for the first time, ensure you / she selects English UK in the set up process.

If the phone is model SM-A546B that you got off Amazon, it should be the EU version which should be ok for UK, if it was the SM-A546E model, that is the Malaysian version which isn't covered for warranty in the UK. If you contact Samsung support through the members app, they will be able to tell you if the warranty covers UK.

The model is SM-A145R/DSN. Not sure if that means anything.

I have entered the *#1234# code to bring up my CSC code and it is showing OXM - which I think is fine as it's global, but the 'service provider software version' is showing "OXM_O2C" which is the code for Czech o2.

Mainly worried about firmware updates and frequency bands but after having a look I think the Czech Republic use 4g lte 800mhz like o2(Giffgaff)here in the UK.

Not sure if I should be concerned or not. It is just a young teens phone after all.

Not having any issues with language or anything. The phone works as it should - all in English - apart from the Czech O2 loading screen upon boot.

Don't know if you've already got an answer but if not; it should be fine because I bought a new phone on Amazon Prime day and it had a O2 welcome screen message in Czech as well. It made no difference to updates etc.
