Is that a brand new phone? It looks like screen burn in.

You say you just received the phone.
Where did you purchase it from?
As the phone is either a second hand device or a poorly reconditioned one.
As @Pugs1957 has said. Looks like screen burn in, and a bad one at that.
This can only happen with prolonged use, and I would be looking at returning the phone and getting your money back.
Only way to fix it is with a screen replacement

He said its his new phone which doesn't always mean it's brand new.
It's definitely a used older phone and it needs a new screen due to screen burn.
You really need to provide more information as to where you purchased it from and maybe someone can give you some advice as to whether you'd be entitled to get your money back.

Wow that screens a mess, looks like a test screen for burn in durations, they were definitely fond of messenger, if you bought that new I'd return it, if you bought it pre owned and it didn't mention screen burn in the description I would start a return to seller.
I wouldn't be happy at all.
Best of luck
