I bought a samsung A55 and quite happy with the phone, apart for one feature. It does not have a physical 3.5mm input so it requires a USB C to 3.5mm adapter (with DAC). I have one without DAC that does not even register. I bough one from Amazon (from the Samsung store, with DAC, I assume that this adaptor is a Samsung original part). I find that when I use a headset or tie clip mic with this adaptor there is quite a bit of hiss, almost like the input has too much gain or some audio compression. with some apps it sounds like there is a blanket on the mic. When i use the same mics/headsets with other devices they work fine, so I have to assume it is the adaptor. I understand there are different types of USB c to 3.5mm adaptors? some with DAC some without...the Samsung dealer said the Apple adaptors don't work with samsung? is that true? I am quite surprised ed as I thought this would be quite a straight forward affair...or is there a USB setting somewhere that adjust the input gain when using usb audio? any help appreciated, thanks in advance.
