Personally I prefer not to download security suites onto my phone's as I find them resource hog's and can cause issues like the one's that your experiencing.
I'm sure however many are happy with their choice.
For me the phone already performs it's own checks and I don't want it to clash with another form of security software.
That's my viewpoint anyway 
and I'm not in anyway advising what you should do as security it important.
I'm also careful on where I visit online and what I click on.
