After doing the update to One UI version 8.0 and Android 16 my UK SIM is no longer seen by the phone.
The SIM is working perfectly in a spare phone.
PLEASE FIX THIS SAMSUNG otherwise the phone is useless.

Ok People let's not get too despondent, there are a growing number of users affected by this bug and from my short experience on the US site , they are having problems too , so the pressure must be building on Samsung. (BTW make sure you file a error report - A longpress of Members App icon in apps will popup a menu).
I wondered if this could be an Android 16 issue, related to the "fake cell tower" detection, and hence country code specific . However, my A53 phone does not even seem to see the sim(s) - why would it not tell something about the sim , if it read it?
Where as, My old S6 will read an ancient vodaphone sim that I had to cut to fit!

Ok People its confirmed the android 16 UI8 update is what is stopping the sim from being recognised in my Galaxy A53 5G model SM-A536U1. The phone was purchased in the uk from amazon but its clearly a US model and the software update has effected the recogition of the sim as the sim works in other phones. I flashed the phone back to Android 15 UI7 and the sim is now recognised and functions normaly. I have now had to disable updates in order to retain the phones core functionality so hopefully someone from samsung will read this and other threads to rectify the problem and confirm its been patched. google khanistek and they will show you how to download and bootload the phone software. You wont be able to use bifrost to download the older software as this still uses samsung repository and they will only allow download of the latest UI8 software, you will however be able to search and use history to show previous versions and obtain from the net. I used samfw.com. Once you recover the phone make sure to disable samsung auto update but also in the deloveper options, again google how to do this. There is a risk you could brick the phone but in its current state it was useless anyway. Make sure phone is fully charged and you dont touch the usb cable to your pc until the recovery is complete which took about 10mins. Hope this helps and samsung step in with a swift update to resolve this problem and ensure customer retension.
