Is clearing data ok?

Hey guys 

I'm wondering if you could help me with something. I want to know if it is ok to clear the data from an app, if it will free up storage space? And that it won't delete my stuff. 

If you can help me that would be great.

@Fiona26 I've got a micro sd card inserted in my phone, all my photos, videos and music are on there. Some of my apps are on the sd card but there are some others that aren't eligible for transfer which is a pain.

Clear the cache will free up data storage. But if you clear data on any program you will loose even it. If possible move to external device's or cloud storage.

Hey sorry for the late reply. Ok yeah I've moved my photos, videos and music to my sd card but I think the main issue is with certain apps as certain apps won't let you transfer the data of the app to an sd card, but thank you for your help though.
