Lock your phone, swipe down and try power off your device; does it prompt you for a passcode/password?

No, it doesn't work when your phone is unlocked & on the home screen. That setting only applies to when the phone is locked and on the lock screen.

To turn your device off using the screen requires at least two touches and using the side key you have to press it hard for a few moments.
So it is unlikely to turn off "accidentally" so to speak.
But each to their own.
My device is an S25 Ultra.
