HELP (I'm going crazy) | Screen Problem

Hi everybody,

I have NO idea what's happening to my phone. Randomly today, my screen started to not feel when I touch if with my fingers.

It first happened on my lockscreen, I could use the physical buttons but never the screen, like I could press long on the lock button, then the "restart/turn off" logos would appear but I couldn't touch any on the screen.

My thought was "ok, I'll just restart the phone with the physical buttons". Which I did, and the problem was solved... for a few minutes.

The next time I locked my screen, AGAIN it wasn't reacting to my touch anymore.

I have been restarting my phone the entire day but it keeps happening, and now even when my screen isn't locked. I'd be watching a video and then my screen doesn't respond anymore, even though the video keeps playing.

I did NOTHING SPECIAL, the morning everything was fine and then not anymore on the afternoon.

I deleted Facebook Messenger because I updated and used it just before but it wasn't that. I tried to remove any form of lock (PIN, digital print) but it kept happening.

Could you help please???

I'm losing my mind.

Thank you very much for taking the time 🙏

Hi there, if touch sensitivity is turned on? Do you use any screen protector? If so try to remove it, also you can press and hold power and volume down button for 10 seconds until device force restarts if nothing works try to do wipe cache partition

Hello @Members_FUrKTmi 👋

I can appreciate how frustrating this must be. 😔

I would advise to first use the diagnostic tool in your Samsung Members App to see if that highlights anything.

If this does not highlight anything obvious then please try Safe Mode.

If this does not help show if an app etc is causing the issue, then try clearing the Phone's System Partition Cache Files.

  • Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }

A final very last resort is to back up and factory reset.

If all these fail to help and the advice provided by @lminvti  👍 does not clear this up please do then consider letting a Samsung Service Centre  / Samsung Experience Store have hands on.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Hi lminvti,

Touch sensitivity isn't turned on. No screen protector. The restart technic is the one I use every ten minutes since yesterday 😅

Regarding the cache, I donwloaded Ccleaner and did a cleaning, is that enough or is there an other way to do that?

Thanks !

May I ask what's your phone model? Is it S series or A series?

Hi BandOfBrothers,

I just cleaned the cache like you mentioned, I'll keep you updated if that does anything. Thank you

Also, I will try the safe mode. My only question is, if this is working great after safe mode, how do I know what was causing the problem?

Thank you!

Of course, it's a Samsung Galaxy A72.

I've had it for 3 years now. The screen is in perfect condition.

UPDATE/ I tried the SAFE MODE but it didn't change a thing.

I noticed that when I'm using the phone, the screen problem takes more time to happen.

Hi Lminvti,

I have done it and it keeps happening still.

I'm worried because I didn't plan on buying a new phone at all. My screen works and detects my touch so it has to be a software problem...

Thank you so much for the time you're giving me. Do you have other ideas ?

I'm having the same since updating to One UI 6.1. I think that's the culprit.
After a restart, the screen works fine, but as soon as the device locks once, the touch no longer responds.
I have no screen protector, I've tried wiping the cache, safe mode. disabling any touch-related settings that Samsung recommends turning off etc., but to no avail.
