Since the last security update on 1st May 2019, when making viop calls, my microphone stops working about 30 sec after task switching that puts the viop phone app in the background.
I believe the patch added this as a security update but I can’t stay on a call and use other apps e.g. sat nav. This severely restricts the usability of viop calls on my A8.
Does anyone know if this is an intentional effect or is it a bug as the S9 doesn’t seem to be affected.

Can you try a soft reboot by turning the phone Off and On.
A Samsung Experience Store or Samsung Service Centre can run a diagnostic test on the phone.
If you feel this is a bug then you can send that via your Samsung Members App / Samsung + App.
Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

It’s been rebooted many times and the problem occurs over different viop services.
It seems like a bug to me but I wanted to see if there was a setting that I had missed somewhere that could fix it.
I will try your other suggestions though.
