I have seen videos showing the A35 having slightly better photos and video recording quality than the A54 despite the two having the same chipset.
I wanted to ask if there has really been improvements of the A35 in the cameras and general performance department than the older A54?
Is the A35 a better and practical "investment" than A54?

I'd suggest to also check out YouTube reviews and also if you can visit a Samsung Experience Store or Highstreet Network Store to have hands on to help you with making your choice.
Enjoy your journey. 😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

I have seen this video but not totally convinced.
If you had a choice what other alternatives would you get other than the A35? (faster battery charging? Snapdragon chipset? decent cameras?)

I've seen videos - some convincing, some are not.
For me it is rather pointless going to a Samsung Experience store - phones are set to demo mode, software are not up to date, etc. The only thing about going is to actually see the phone, the size and the weight. You can still try out the cameras and the UX but as i mentioned above... Nothing more.

The only logical choice for me is the S23 series. Based on my region they all come with a Snapdragon chip and not the inferior and old Exynos ones on the S21 or S22 series.
In particularly the S23+ variant as the size and weight seems fine for my hands and the charging speeds is slightly faster at 45w. I could still go for the base S23 tho with a slow charging speeds.

It's a stupid question but if a brand new Galaxy A35 (8GB variant) and a used but mint condition S23 (or S23+) were both at the same price...which would you get now?
