Update 2023/2024/2025: *This header message is updated regularly*

Problem can be reproduced 100%. The problem ALWAYS occurs after 9 to 10 days of system runtime. The problem was observed on 5 of 5 6 of 6 Galaxy A14 devices, purchased at different times, no other models testet yet. (A12 tested, see page 5), My Device has already been sent for service once.... See page 3 for experience. The cause for the Problem is unclear. Strong indication that it affects at least the entire Samsung Galaxy A14 model series. Samsung currently seems to be in contact with manufacturer of components to find the cause.

According to Samsung, the problem has been fixed and there is a specific date/time when the update will take effect. Read last Page.

Hello community,

I've had a new Samsung Galaxy 14 smartphone for about 5 weeks and I noticed something strange about the battery consumption. Doesn't have to be a problem, but I find it very unusual. FIRST I would like to mention that I practically do not use the smartphone. It's on my desk 24/7 and I only use it a few minutes in the evening to log into my bank account. That's why I automatically activated the flight mode 23 hours a day using the Samsung routine/modes. The smartphone is set to maximum battery economy. I use my old smartphone for everyday use.
(Edit: Clarification from 09/2024: The problem is NOT related to the flight mode, wifi or seems related to anything else, it happens after 9-10 days of system runtime)

This is why the following picture bothering me now:

-Significantly increased consumption in the last few days, for no apparent reason. This is the second discharge process since I had the device, the behavior was not observed during the first discharge process from my point of view. Update: I have currently charged the device back to 80% and now the battery still seems to be discharging relatively quickly. Yesterday 11 p.m. 80%, today 3 p.m. 74%

-The room temperature was about 2-3 degrees warmer in the last few days, but that shouldn't explain the matter?

-There is NO app usage on the days.

-Android 13 with ONE UI Core-Version 5.1

Update: After Reeboot the Smartphone seems to have a normal battery drain again. I can only wait for it to happen again

Worse thing I did was using old a32 device alongside my recent purchase 7 weeks ago of a13 totally hijacked rebuilt settings changed and not NOT standard these hackers think I'm stupid and don't know their redirects and infiltrating my Samsung account and stolen several Gmail addresses and actually getting better usage of my device than I am. They have invaded 2 samsung galaxy phones and a recent iPhone by cloning and setting themselves up as Administrators and having the cheek to change my details and setting me up as a kid under 13 to stop me accessing several applications 😀 beware

August 13-23 gas been a huge infringement of samsung copyright and samsung devices being hacked and remotely accessed samsung are aware of this but unable to cope with thousands of customers experiencing cyber security issues like stalking and invasion of privacy fake redirects, fake samsung/Google apps and much more

Today is Wednesday, May 15th, 2024 evening. Problem still exists, but got response via Samsung Members App and from Samsung Software Testing Team. My total working time, 2 hours 15.

1.) Response from Samsung

A Software engineer was able to find some abnormalities in/with software package. A concrete possible cause was presented and a concrete description was given, which I shold try on my Samsung Device. I did this on two Samsung A14s and will report again in 9 to 10 days. According to the answer, this issue is "not occurring in other devices". I also received a response via the Samsung Members app, which also contained these instructions. The support employee had definitely tried the solution himself before sending it to me, there is visibly more movement here than before. Thanks for that.

2.) The problem again in further numbers

I would also like to show again graphically how the problem manifests itself, especially in comparison to other devices. During the holidays I had time to compare a few smartphones directly and to document again what I had observed with smartphones over the years and because the problem with the A14 is not/should not be normal. What can also be clearly see in my opinion, is that the A14 behaves completely normally and even very well WITHOUT bleed.

As comparison:
-Motorola Moto E4 (6.5 years old, deep discharge several times, 2800 mAh battery)
-Gigaset GS110 (>4 years old, not the best phone, also some issues, 3000 mAh)
-Samsung Galaxy A14 (with battery bleed)
-Samsung Galaxy A14 (without battery bleed)

Attached are two diagrams and the raw data

Today is Monday, May 27th, 2024 evening. Problem still exists, but problem was forwarded to Samsung S/W Engineers. My total working time, 1 hour 15 Minutes.

The suggested solutions could not fix the problem. I tried the solution on my A14 and on a second A14 test device, but with a slight modification (p.a. restart 2 days later), after 9 to 10 days the problem reoccurred on both devices as usual. Screenshots of battery levels of both devices attached. After the problem arose on my first test device, I then contacted the support/department again on Saturday.

On Monday the answer, that the problem will be checked by further software engineers. I also received the answer via the Samsung Members app that the specialist department is checking. Apparently someone at Samsung understood the problem and also forwarded the whole email traffic. Looks very good 👍

Today is 30.06.2024 Sunday, afternoon. Problem still exists, no solution or error explanation from Samsung regarding the problem. My total working time >3 hours.

I would also like to note that I have tested three Samsung A14 so far and ALL of them had the problem. 3 out of 3 Galaxy smartphones had the phenomenon of massively increased battery consumption after 10 days.

1.) S/W Quality Team

Last contact to S/W Team on 10.06.2024, waiting for response. Based on their explanation, I created dump state log with *#9900# and send the files, waiting for a response. The S/W quality team is currently the only bright spot. The contact only came about because I sent the following message to the development and security team:

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

i want to point out a possible software issue with the Samsung Galaxy A14 Model series. I could observe the behavior for almost a year, i also observed the problem also on a second Galaxy A14.

Due to this fact and the behavior of the error i suspect a software issue that can even possibly affect the whole model series. The cause is totally unclear.

The error is 100% reproducible and predictable. The error is very disadvantageous for the customer and also for Samsung as a company. I assume the matter is being investigated.

Customer service is not aware of the behavior and does not appear to be able to solve or relay the issue, despite several attempts and even send in the device.

I ask that you forward this to the responsible department. I ask for confirmation of receipt and information about what exactly will be done. I expect an answer by May 19, 2024

Issue:

After 9 to 10 days of system running time, the battery consumption increases for no reason according to the battery percentage display. We're talking about increases of at least 400% to 500% for no apparent reason. The problem persists until you restart your Galaxy A14. After 9 to 10 days the problem returns. 100% reproducible and predictable, since i buyed the Galaxy A14 a year ago.

Reproducibility:

The problem is best observed when the device is used little. Deactivate all functions (WLAN, mobile...), switch on flight mode and don't use the device for two weeks. Record battery usage at the same time every day. In the first 9 to 10 days I noticed -2% battery per day, after the 10th day -8% per day.

The problem is independent of the battery level and ALWAYS occurs after 9 to 10 days. (Documentation attached, battery log on last sites). I also opened a Post in „Samsumg Members Forum“ last year.

Consequences of the issue:

-The customer assumes that the battery will drop linearly, this is the typical and expected behavior of most smartphones on the market. A sudden, unknown battery drain can cause problems or dangerous situations for the customer relying on the device's battery indicator.

-The behavior is atypical and incomprehensible. Cause unclear. If the showed consumption is correct, then after 10 days system runtime software starts working in the background or start throwing errors.

-The problem limits battery life to 8 to 10 days, although battery life of one month or more is possible.

-Due to the short battery life, the customer may buy a new device sooner or assume the wrong circumstances when purchasing a new one.

-The (hopefully correct) battery usage in the first 9 to 10 days gives the buyer or reviewer a false impression of the device's general battery life.

Greetings

2.) Samsung Support

I reported the error again via the Samsung Members app. I sent another system print, found nothing again and somehow forwarded it. I had even to explain again what the error was.. There was no response to my comment that I had found the problem on three Samsung Galaxy A14 devices.

Today is monday 22.07.2024. Problem still exists, Samsung's Software Quality Group seems to be slowly tracking the problem. My total working time ~2,5 hours.

1.) S/W Quality Team

I asked again on July 9th what the status was, as I had sent the last email on June 10th. The reply was, that they were waiting for my input/log. I then pointed out that I had sent this on June 10th and had received no response. I also attached a graphic to the emails that illustrates the problem again.

Support also assumed that the problem only occurs in airplane mode. That is not the case, airplane mode is simply better for testing. So far, absolutely competent people who care and the first real ray of hope in this case.

Reply on 15.07 cames with the note that Samsung team was allocated to reproduce the problem themselves. Finally!!!! Let's see what comes out.... As mentioned several times, the problem was detected on three different Samsung Galaxy A14 devices, the problem is 100% reproducible and predictable. The problem should not be difficult to reproduce, just leave the device lying around for 10 days, preferably in flight mode, do nothing and document the battery level every day.

2.) Samsung Support

Parallel, reported the error 9.7.24 again via the Samsung Members app again. I sent another system print, found they forwarded it again. With the note that the analysis will take some time

Saturday 24.08, the problem still exists. Total time "wasted" on this issue: ~50 minutes.

1.) S/W Quality Team

In the last email it was noted that a test team was looking into the problem. Over a month has now passed. The test team should have reproduced the issue by now, but unfortunately there has been no response yet. I asked about the status again today. I wrote another email today asking for a quick update.

Hello XXXXXX,

is there any interim reports regarding the Samsung Galaxy battery drain?

By now, the testing team should have been able to reproduce the described issue (battery drain after 10 days of system operation) at least once.

Greetings

YYYYY

2.)  Another long-term test regarding battery life

I did another long-term test where I suppressed the issue by preemptive reboot.

I last charged the Samsung Galaxy A14 to 100% on July 27th, 2024, today is August 24th, 2024 and the device still has 32%.  That's 28 days without charging, although I missed the restart once and the battery drained one day.

THOSE are runtimes that are actually possible without the issue/BUG/phenomenon if you use the device little.
