When I receive a WhatsApp the notification appears on my home screen for about 2 seconds then it disappears. That's if I actually see it come in, sometimes i don't know i have WhatsApp messages until I open the app. I've switched the clear count toggle on and off, it does not make any difference. I've only had the phone for a week. Its a Galaxy A36. Can anyone help?

Hi
Apologies for the long post

. Disappearing Messages Feature:

WhatsApp has a "disappearing messages" feature that allows messages to be automatically deleted after a set time (24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days).

If you've enabled this feature for a chat, messages will disappear after the designated time.

You can check if this feature is enabled by opening the chat, tapping the contact's name or group subject, and then selecting "Disappearing messages". If it's enabled, it will show the selected time period.

2. Accidental Deletion:

If you haven't enabled disappearing messages, your messages might have been accidentally deleted by you or someone else with access to your phone.

You can try restoring your chat history from a backup to recover deleted messages.

3. App or Device Issues:

Sometimes, WhatsApp might encounter bugs or glitches that can cause messages to disappear.

Restarting your device or reinstalling WhatsApp might help resolve these issues.

You can also check for updates to both your phone's operating system and the WhatsApp app.

4. Restoring from Backup:

If you have a backup of your chat history, you can restore it to recover deleted messages.

To restore from a Google Drive backup:

Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.

Sign in with your phone number and verify it.

WhatsApp will prompt you to restore your chat history from the backup.

To restore from an iCloud backup:

Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.

Verify your phone number and Apple ID.

Tap "Restore Chat History" when prompted.

5. Contacting WhatsApp Support:

If you've tried all the above steps and still can't recover your messages, you can contact WhatsApp support for further assistance

Thank you for your reply. Its not my messages that are disappearing. Its my notifications that I have messages. When a message comes in the notification badge is on screen for about 1 second then it disappears. If I don't see it I now have no idea I have messages until I open the app. I spoke to WhatsApp, they said Samsung control the notifications, not them. Hence why I'm here! Thank you again though.

To clarify, this is an issue only with WhatsApp messages?
Are you referring to the notification pop up on your home screen? After it disappears, notifications can be accessed by swiping down from the top left of the screen.
Any other clarification can help to pinpoint the issue.
Let me know if this helped

Thank you for your reply. It appears to be only happening on WhatsApp. I don't get very many, if any at all, sms mesages so I can't be sure. When the pop up appears a number 1 will appear on the WhatsApp icon, then another when the next message comes in etc and it tallies up. I used to be able to glance at my home screen and know I had, let's say 5, messages to read. Now theres nothing there as though theres no messages. I have since discovered it us my app lock app that's causing it. I now have a decision, unlock the WhatsApp app to be able to know at a glance if I have messages or keep it locked and regularly check it!
