Custom Application in Work profile

Me and my team are trying to secure a custom app with Knox technology, Our initial plan was to use secure folder, but it turned out that when secure folder is exited(going in home or having the phone at sleep, the app stops working. Now our second work around is using the work profile. Is there any way we can add this app inside the work profile? We have access to knox manage, can this be used?
