Can't make calls and browse the internet simultaneously

New development by Giffgaff. 

For some years now my phone, Galaxy A13 android 14, hasn't been able to make calls and browse the internet at the same time. I noticed this week that it now can simultaneously do both. Has there been a change at Giffgaff that has resulted in this brilliant development? I also noticed recently that there is a new VoLTE option in my phone's network settings, has this anything to do with the new development I wonder?

I have only just discovered this new feature, and I think it is worth shouting about, and as Giffgaff aren't doing that, I've decided to take it upon myself.

Hey there

I suspect there has been an upgrade in your area by O2 (who own Giffgaff) combined with the addition of voLTE.

It may be area specific though, i.e. areas with weak 4g may not support both.

On the giffgaff website, there is a link to a document that explains how since May 2024, Giffgaff have been moving older phone numbers, stuck on 2G and 3G, up to 4G, and that's why we're suddenly able to make calls and browse the internet at the same time. It's so embarrassing when you're on the phone to someone like Amazon, and they ask you to browse to a link that they have sent you in a text, but you have to tell them that your phone isn't capable of doing both a phone call, and browsing the Internet simultaneously 😒

And of course, after all that, it was never my Samsung phone that was the problem it was a limitation of some older giffgaff Sims/numbers.

Has any one had problems uploading to YouTube when uploading is in process the app is unresponsive at loading checking the upload and viewing videos YouTube Studio is the same I've tryd turning off the 5g and using 4g instead which did help a little, the volte calls turns off HD calling
