Using Android Auto to navigate to the NT property, Sheffield Park, in the UK using a Bluetooth connection from phone to car we got within about 2 miles of our destination and the bluetooth connection suddenly failed and we lost all our navigation.

We did manage to find the location by following signs as we were only 3 miles from our destination but when we wanted to return home it would not connect at all. We actually had two Samsung phones available in the car and it would not connect to either.

After trying for several minutes, and in desperation, I tried a USB connection from my phone to the car, luckily I had a cable with me, and this did successfully connect to Android Auto and we were able to navigate home. Now we are home Bluetooth works again. This has always worked reliably until this occasion when we really needed the satellite navigation to get home or at least to the motorway. It was very worrying for several minutes until I remembered that I had a USB cable which, by luck, happened to be in the car, and fortunately it connected to my phone restoring our satnav guidance through the country lanes.

I have made no changes to my phone settings or the car. What can possible cause this worrying behavior?

One phone is a A54, the other an A16, and the car is a Toyota Yaris hybrid - one year old.
