A7 2018 - stuck on android 8?

So I have an A7 2018 (SM-A750FN). It's on Android 8.0.0 / Experience 9.0.

From these forums I understand this phone can be upgraded to Android 9 or even 10, but the software update screen says the latest updates have already been installed.

Because Google Wallet, which I use all the time, is now no longer supported on Android 8 I really need to upgrade.

So is 9 or 10 available? If so how can I install?

My region is UK.

TIA for any help!

Reading online it does seem it goes upto Android 10 for the A7 2018.

Where did you purchase the phone from?

Could you also post a screenshot of the page under the following section please

Hi @whimsical

Maybe try Samsung SmartSwitch.

Also sometimes inserting another networks sim card can initiate a software update.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Hi Omega, thanks for your reply. I got the phone from Ebuyer; phone only, no SIM, it wasn't locked into any provider.

Not able to post a screenshot right now, but last updates were around 2018 or so (as I'm sure you know this was one of the last models not to get the extended updates).

Hi BoB,

Thanks for this.

Re the link I did check that out but it just goes through the normal process of getting an update (manually or automatic) and the phone shows no updates available when I try that.

That's interesting about the SIM card though, and at some point I soon will try that.

I may just end up buying an A15 or A25 (Android 14) just so I have long security updates into the medium term future. They look like good phones. But it just strikes me as crazy to throw away a perfectly good bit of advanced technology - I'd rather help the planet a bit and save myself a few £££ too!
