Purchased a new Samsung galaxy A54 5G, SM-546E. I set up the phone transfered my sim card, however I noticed this phone never picks up my wifi 5ghz, only the 2.4ghz. Every other phone I've used automatically picks up on my 5ghz & uses that frequency & speed over the 2.4ghz. But I'm not sure why my A54 5G never does. & I'm aware that the A54 should have dual band wifi.

Your phone might favour connecting to one particular connection @Andrew863

Can you split your router to be able to choose either connection. Name each one differently.

Then delete the pairing on your phone and try connecting to the 5ghz connection you want.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

I'm not familiar with logging into the router & changing settings. But I was told by my provider it's more stable & better when it's combined. & every other phone I've had & have quickly jumps on the 5ghz band & stays on that frequency mostly except my SM-A546E, it never goes on the 5ghz band ever, constant stays on the 2.4ghz. But what I did do is tried my friend A54 which is a USA carrier unlocked model SM-546U xfinity mobile unlocked, & that A54 picks up the 5ghz band & stays on it consistently. So I'm not sure what's the issue with my Latin American model A54 SM-546E. It's weird.

Same happens with mine. Came here searching for the answer to the same questions.

I tried this and it worked. Settings -> About phone -> Software information -> Google Play system update -- found an update this morning, installed - issue fixed***. It still says update is as of Jan 1st, 2024 (after update) which is the same as before update but it made my phone able to maintain a 5 gHz wifi connection with nearly expected speed. I am optimistic to check tomorrow that it is a permanent fix.
