Hoping someone can help…

I just bought a new Dell monitor.

the monitor has 2 x hdmi ports and 1 x DisplayPort.

I also bought usb-c to HDMI and usb-c to DisplayPort cables.

connection between my laptop and both HDMI & Displayport works fine using the cables.

However, using the same usb-c to hdmi cable to connect my Samsung A53 to the monitor does not work - the monitor does not receive a signal from the A53.

Am I missing something?

Can the A53 be connected to the Dell monitor?

Any/all help/advice greatly received

Eventually tracked down my own answer…

Just in case it helps anyone else here’s what I found out:

Apparently, in order to link your smartphone to a monitor your USB-C port needs to support video output. Specifically this means your phone needs to support MHL (Media High-definition Link).

A quick check on the Samsung website shows that my A53 doesn’t support MHL.

It’s not a deal breaker but I wish I’d understood that the A53 couldn’t be connected - just saying ‘MHL - No’ in the specifications doesn’t really give the average customer an understanding of the restriction/limitation.

I also found an MHL website that lists all devices that have MHL:

https://www.mhltech.org/devices.aspx

Hope this helps someone else with the same question…
