I have an A52s which I was using with dual SIMs.
This week I received a software update for the phone:
One Ul version: 6.1
Android version: 14
Now I have noticed that on SIM 2 the "2G only" option in Settings -> Connections -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode SIM 2 is no longer available. The only options available are 5G/4G/3G/2G or 4G/3G/2G. I used to use this SIM only for calls and although the 2G coverage is good in my area the 4G isn't while 3G is shut down. So now the phone is stuck on 1 bar on 4G and calls are missed or dropped.
Please let me know how to fix this as the phone is unusable now.

Personally I think it's a mistake as 4G and especially 5G are still really poor in quite a lot of places.
With those settings, if 2G was the strongest signal, the phone should default to this.
A radio technology isn't capable of being "really quite poor" as you suggest - coverage levels are dictated by network planning, the frequency bands in use and various other radio factors.
You mention a phone remaining on 2G if it's the strongest signal - this depends on the network's parameters. EE-UK for instance, has very strong reselection criteria that will encourage devices back onto 4G-LTE layers as soon as usable, in the rare case they drop to a 2G-layer.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dannyboy23 is on Vodafone-UK.
