Since yesterday (about when an update took place) when I phone anyone my mic is scrambled. Everyone says I sound like R2D2 and it's so bad they can't tell what I'm trying to say.
This happens through the phone hardware and also through a bluetooth headset.
My mic and call quality is perfect through whatsapp and I can record videos of myself and play them back with excellent audio.
Any ideas what is going on or how to fix it?

If this happens on normal calls but not on Wi-Fi calls like WhatsApp or video calls, this suggests a problem with your cellular signal. I would contact your provider. You could also try turning airplane mode on and off again after a few minutes.
Take your sim card out and make sure its clean, and placed correctly in the phone. Swipe down from the top of your screen and make sure you're not using voice isolation on these calls.

Thank you
It's happening at home where I don't usually have a problem with signal but I noticed the wifi assisted calling setting had somehow got switched off so will try it again.
The SIM card was all fine although has now been checked.
Hopefully it's just the wifi calling setting causing it. I'll test later when friends have finished work and I can call them!
Thank you for the welcome and your help.

It turns out the service provider were working on the cell towers near my home and causing very intermittent signal. Combined with the update somehow turning off wifi assisted calling that's why I was having issues.
Thank you for your help.
