A26 whats app notifications on lock screen

Hi,

Is there a way to view an incoming WhatsApp message on my lock screen? At the moment it shows me a notification bar for a WhatsApp message but I want to be able to read the whole message from my lock screen. 

I tried doing various things I found on line with regards to this but nothing seems to fix it.

Is this possible?

Settings, notifications, lock screen notifications, show content. Hopefully that fixes it.

It might also be whatsapp not allowing it. Since having your notifications be readable without unlocking your device kinda lets anyone with your phone read your messages and security codes
