A24 not charging | The connected USB device is not supported

My A24 was charging perfectly fine yesterday, no issues whatsoever. After waking up today, it suddenly wasn't able to charge anymore. It connected briefly, showing the charging icon, but then it disappears and the notification bar shows the error: "The connected USB device is not supported."

Things I've tried:

- I've tried the cable on my other devices, and it works fine.

- I've tried to charge using the cable and adapter that the phone came with, but the phone still didn't charge, and now not even the error shows up.

- Clearing the cache and data of "USBSettings" in Applications and restarting the phone, but still didn't work.

Things that I assume:

- Not a faulty cable/adapter, as it works on other devices.

- Not a broken/obstructed charging port, as it can identify that my cable is (suddenly) not supported.

- Possibly an overnight software update that messed things up? (That I was not aware of)

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could at least provide some insight into this issue.

Quite possibly. The same happened to my just after an update installed on 7 June.

I'm suddenly encountering the same issue with my phone. I've tried two different usb c to usb c cables neither charge the phone but work on other devices. I can only get it to slowly charge using a usb C to usb A cable that is made for charging my ear buds. Did you or anyone ever figure out the cause? I've tried all of the web suggested trouble shoot help to no avail.

Hey Rhanson, there is hope. After twon months charging it only through my computer or power banks, it started to charge again to the wall. I realized that in one computer charge were the computer suddendly recognized the phone.

So there is hope.

Just one hypothesis that I have is that a certain app, in this case AnyDesk, might be the problem. Im' not sure why I think so, but I have the hunch.

This seems to problem of multiple devices and Samsung is not ready to acknowledge,  my findings are you can charge with low wattage charges which doesn't support fast charging.

Same issue here - with usb c super fast charger device doesn't charge. Only charges with a slow charger. Samsung needs to fix this issue on their end

Unfortunately, I foolishly purchased a new phone. However, I had a hunch that this problem was caused by a software update, so upon transferring everything from the old phone to the new one, I did a factory reset on the old phone. I plugged the phone into the same charger I had always used, and it was now fast charging again.

I think its a battery and consumption problem, not a cable, not a directly software, or charger. After format phone, battery consumption changed and working fast charging.

Thank you! The latter solution works! It's because of my 2 recent updates!!! It may broke file! I thought I would have to get it to care center (they would have fixed it by "brute force" because they may not identified the right problems, this problem is pretty specific and specialized, which costs more and even have to get a new phone if the cost is too much). Thank you!!! Wish you well and rich, it's Lunar New Year in my country today 😝

Hey man I have  an a 24 and same thing happened to me

At first I bought a Ugreen charger with the phone that does fast charging at 25W, of course, because the phone does not come with a charger. In the first year and a few months, the phone charges normally. One day I left and charged the phone in the morning, and when night came, I wanted to charge the phone before I went to sleep. I put it on the charger. On the same day, it connects to the charger for a second, then the charging process stops. I disconnected the phone from the charger and reconnected it to it more than once. The same problem until suddenly it did not recognize the charger at all. My charger was Ugreen with a USB Type C cable from both sides. I tried my earbuds, they charge with the USB Type C port and they work, meaning that the charger is working, and the problem is with the phone. After trying a large number of connectors and chargers, I reached the same conclusion as you. You cannot charge the phone with a USB C connector on both sides. Then I searched for this problem on the Internet and found your comment. I knew that I was not the only one, but unfortunately I did not find a solution. It is most likely a manufacturing defect in the phone. I charged my phone for a year with a very slow charger, and this was annoying me. What was also annoying me more is that now I cannot connect any accessory to the phone via the OTG No storage device, no controller, nothing. I am writing this comment because I found a solution a few days ago. Buy a charger cable. This cable is Y-shaped, meaning there is one USB C port for one device, but there are two heads for the cable, one USB A and the other USB C. In the middle of the cable there is a square that regulates the current to the phone and also the protocol by which it communicates with the device. I think this is the important difference. When I connected the USB C head to my UGREEN charger, the phone recognized it and charged at full speed 25W. I think it is because of this part in the middle of the cable and because the cable has two heads, one USB A and the other USB C. This part chooses which protocol to communicate with the device. I think what happens is that the current passes from USB C to USB C to my device, but through the USB A protocol. Now I can use the charger and power bank that I own, but the problem of connecting accessories remains.
