A15 5G can only open one app at a time

I've recently bought a Samsung A15 5G, 4GB/128GB to replace my aging A32 which has stopped working.  Even though this is a more modern phone with later Android I can no longer open two apps at once.  If I'm listening to music on any music player and I open a game then the music player just closes.  Same with most other apps.  Is this common for this phone? Any fixes you can suggest?  I've tried various memory managers, rebooting it regularly etc.  Do I really need an 8GB memory phone to run two apps now?  My old A32 only had 4GB and ran multiple apps perfectly.  thanks

Hi @Members_hNqa5Gq  Welcome to the Samsung Community :smiling-face:

Whilst 4 GB is a bit low  no not need as much on medium range Devices, should still be sufficient for a number of Apps. Sometimes there can be issues when transferring Apps using Smart Switch  (though not sure if it was the case).

Ensure all you apps are up to date in both the Samsung and Google stores, you may though need to clear the cache partition. This deletes temporary cache files (which can become outmoded or even corrupt), your Data is intact though.

Follow these steps:|

1. Turn off the device.
2. May need to Connect To Computer , other Device or TV USB, Press and hold the Volume Up key and then press and hold the Power key
3. When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
4. Wait until the Android system recovery menu options appear.
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
6. Press Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

thanks James, I only got the phone 2 weeks ago so is clearing the cache partition still relevant?  I did use the Samsung data transfer to take everything from old phone to new phone, am starting to wonder if that may not have helped?  Someone said something online about Android 14 on these phones being 64 bit rather than 32 bit with early Androids on previous phones which left less memory free for apps?

Hello 👋 @Members_hNqa5Gq and Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum.

Using SmartSwitch can occasionally present issues.

Personally I back up to Samsung Cloud to move my info across ,and only use Samsung SmartSwitch to move my Gallery across.

Might be worth considering a factory reset and try my method 🤔

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

@Members_hNqa5Gq The 64 bit version may be a factor,  whilst fine for some transferring Apps can cause issues.

yes would say the cache partition is relevant, can help with App problems.  However as has has ben mentioned sometimes a Factory Reset is necessary.  Ensure Data is backed up before taking this action though.

thanks all, will give the suggestions a try.  In case I still have an issue what would you recommend as a lower priced 2024 onwards 8GB/128GB Samsung. A55?
