Media Transfer Protocol.. Something to do with what is selected when you plug in a USB lead to anything other than a charger.. That does seem to be a lot of usage...

The Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) is an extension to the Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) ... The user has to switch to an MTP-aware application, or else work around by using an MTP-aware application. Hope that helps.
