Does anybody here actually use 8K recording?

I've realised that I don't use 8k at all. It's a feature that doesn't need to be there. Maybe Samsung can replace the 8k with a 1 inch type sensor.

Anyways if somebody here does use 8k. How do you use it and for what purpose..

Does converting 8k to 4k look better than the actual 4k?

I would assume 8K recording is mostly a software feature though. The S25 doesn't seem to have any major differences in the camera department so we're not going to see anything different until the S26 series. I also don't use 8K recording and barely use 4K too. 1080p is such a good compromise between quality and storage, as long as you don't need to do any cropping etc in post. Shooting in 8K is also limited to 30FPS so it would be better to just shoot in 4k 60FPS I would say.

So previous posts from your good self complain about the quality of the cameras....

Yet here you have the best quality available and you don't want it!

Remember, The S25 Series comes with 7 years of OS and Security Updates so whilst 8k may not be big right now, who knows where it will be in a year or three??

No. But then I don't really video much. I reckon I'd only use 4k if I did though, as I have a 4k TV.

It seems highly unlikely 8k tvs are going to be particularly prevelent any time soon. 4k has been around for about a decade or more and there are still no live broadcasts, nor are there ever likely to be. Most streaming services offer it but it's still not as widespread as HD was after the same amount of time. 8k will never happen, other than maybe a few films for a niche market. The majority of younger people consume content on mobile devices and tablets, so there's no incentive to push 8k, other than, it sounds good.

This isn't really a topic around the One UI 7, is it?😊

8k, 100x zoom etc look good on paper and have vertical little use to the average user out there besides some bragging rights and cool niche applications.

I guess at the end of the day it's better to have something if the need arises than not have it at all.

I personally use HD for most videos and occasionally go 4k if the lighting is good.
With cameras I try to stick to 10x and zoom with my feet.

Anything over 30x is garbage anyways.

I use it when I want a decent photo shot where subjects move, like my kids. 8k gives a good picture resolution with frame exports. Unfortunately the camera software isn't up to it (like a Pixel/iPhone) so get a blurry mess. You could play with pro mode settings but often want to point and shoot. It's not great but the best solution.

If they fixed this I'd consider sticking with Samsung but when this phone is done I'm likely going back to a Pixel. Shame as the other features, build, performance etc are great.

This subject is not in the right topic (Beta related) but actually a fix in 7 was something I hoped might be addressed, but knew it wouldn't.
The keyboard is another issue, it seems more stable in this beta but still auto corrects badly compared to Gboard.

Hello @Haytch,

Of course using this feature is not mandatory, but I believe it can be useful to some people in specific situations 😊

Have a good day!
