Heyo, been doing a bit of a deep investigation into to the beta software that's actually running, found something quite interesting.
As many of you might have spotted, google pay and other services still work as normal, or should work as normal.
Turns out the current beta update is technically marked as an official full release.
To explain a little. Yout phone will only run trusted code. When Samsung makes an update, they put a marker on the code to say it's official and safe. There's 2 main types of these markers. Release and beta.
Release markers are for normal consumer software, google pay and everything works in Release.
Beta is for test software. Beta software. When software is marked as beta, some high security features disable themselves, such as google pay. The phone is aware it's using software thay might have bugs or issues.
Funny thing is, the current one ui 8 beta is actually marked as release. So the phone and all the software on the phone thinks it's a normal update. It doesn't know it's beta.
Future beta updates will probably be marked as beta. But for now, the phone works perfectly normally thinking there's no beta.
