Just received a T7 1TB. My laptop does not recognize it when using the USB C port. (The usb C port works for other devices, specifically iPhone). The blue light is on, so it's receiving power. It's recognized fine using USB A port. I'm using a MSI laptop running W11. I've checked the drivers for the usb ports and they are up to date.

thanks for any help you can provide.

For me the problem was a broken USB cable, a different one worked.

I have not. I tried Aluminummans solution for changing the power settings in device manager, and tried a new cable but no change, the drive is not recognized. The USB drivers are up to date. I can use a USBA cable.

Hello; thank you for your explanation and it's not sill and not just a problem with the samsung T7 or T7 touch.  I have had this issue with other Samsung Galaxy phones and devices when using type C cables and connections. And type c is suppose to be universal no matter which way its turned but that's not true because I've had this issue with trying to charge my device.  After turning the cable all possible ways, it finally recognized it and opened the action I was trying to perform, whether charging, transferring data, or whatever.  So you are absolutely correct, type C  is NOT a universal connection at all.

far out man - I spent hours troubleshooting this issue on my linux box.  Cable orientation was the last thing I would've thought of.

Thank you!

Sure thing!  USB C is supposed to work regardless of how it's plugged in.  I can only think there's some flaw in the way Samsung has been manufacturing their ports, and according to what you are saying, it's across multiple devices.  Shame 😞

No worries :smiling-face:  Yah cables are usually pretty solid these days, rarely do I ever find a cable that just doesn't work.  I would have been in the same boat as you if I hadn't literally just swapped a T5 for the new T7 using the same exact cable.  T5 worked, T7 didn't.  I was on my way to thinking that the T7 was defective until I tried the cable in different orientations.  And then it worked.  Go figure 😞
