S49CG954SN Odyssey OLED G9 - May we PLEASE get a basic firmware for this and make it a real monitor

Bit of a rant but I can't be the only one with these issues. May we please get a super basic firmware for this monitor and just remap one of the remote buttons to Input? This is supposed to be a monitor but it thinks it's a "smart" television. I have updated firmware and kept it current but it's just plagued with nonsensical trivial issues that I'd expect to see 15+ years ago.

50% of the time one of the G9 OLED's (usually the main one I have) doesn't wake up from sleep but the second one does. The only way to regain picture on the primary is to unplug / replug the displayport cable. Sometimes the monitor works fine for a couple of weeks and then randomly it starts doing this. Sometimes the top G9 oled does the same nonsense. I have tried the mode that uses more power and keeps the display idling and the eco mode. It doesn't make much of a difference.

It takes about 20 years to switch inputs on these since it's buried in the menus. Why is there no basic Input button?? Even Samsung TV's have them. The interface on the screen is horribly slow and it feels like there are 3 entirely separate settings menus.

A new occurrence with the recent firmware is that the actual image of the screen shifts left and off the screen so the start menu button slowly disappears. Again, disco/reco of the DP cable temporarily solves this. These issues also happen to my wife's G9 OLED as well on a separate system. Today the second input is no longer present on the Home screen to switch inputs so now I need to navigate down and use the *other* input menu which takes even longer since it needs to switch themes or some nonsense.

HDMI seems to work fine but I need to use that for a second system so I can't just swap my main monitor to use it, plus I'd need to use an adapter to support two of them from the same GPU via HDMI anyway.

In my 22+ years of buying LCD displays these monitors have been the absolute worse for basic functionality. The picture is beautiful but everything else is really rough and unpolished. I don't see the need for such a complicated interface on something marketed as a monitor. I have dedicated buttons on the remote for nonsense like Netflix, Disney, etc... but not a settings button or an input button? We wasted resources for a microphone for a MONITOR? Super bizarre.

Some of the pain points with this display have been fixed with firmware updates such as screen optimization just bricking after a month and burn-in occurring. The home button also stopped responding entirely when that occurred.

If Samsung cannot resolve these issues I can't see myself ever purchasing another display from them again. Frankly, the thought of it is quite off-putting. My wife also has an AW 34" OLED paired with the G9. That display works flawlessly and has never given even a hint of an issue in the many years it's been owned - and that's without needing firmware updates!

In addition to this I would love to change the joystick behaviour. Pulling it make it opens the brightness menu, I would like to change it to something like screen size to direct open that menu as I change the screen size between my devices.

I really hope Samsung reads here...

Owning the device for almost 2 weeks now, i can mostly agree to OP!

Basic Monitor functions should be the fastest to be accessed, since this is a PC Screen. Since most of the remote buttons kick me OUT OF MY PC when i need it the least, this needs to be changed. Going back to PC takes like OP says forever, the slow response time makes it even worse.

Give us at least the possibility to remap the Disney, Netflix etc. buttons to HDMI, DP, activate/deactivate VRR (since this is needed often to get rid of the flicker!).

Funniest I find about: you could at least have chosen some actual "Gamer" Stuff, like YouTube and Twitch.

As OP said, the display is just awesome, but the menu is not good at all. Takes away a lot from the (expensive) experience.
