I have a Samsung NP535U3C in which the hard drive failed.  I now have a new hard drive and want to install Windows 7 as was on it before.  Microsoft advised the following

"The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options."

Please advise me on what I must do to reinstall Windows7

Hey @ChristyB, we've had a response from our Product Support Specialist who has confirmed that you'll need to purchase a copy of Windows 7 from Microsoft to reinstall the operating system.

Alternatively, you can contact your local Service Centre, which you can locate here and they should be able to help you out with some aftercare, however they may charge for this service. Hope this clarifies things for you. :smileyhappy:

if you have to buy a new one, does that mean the windows 7 license key sticker that comes with the laptop is a fake/fraud???
