printing from a MacBook Air

I have just bought a MacBook Air and when I attempt to print anything from this laptop the printer just pushes out blank sheets. Well almost blank, there are tiny characters from a playing card deck at the bottom of some of the sheets, ie tiny pictures of hearts and clubs and Diamonds. I am able to print successfully from my iPad.

My printer is Samsung M283x laser printer.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
