Hi and welcome to the UK and EU Samsung Community. Please note that this is a customer to customer Forum and we are users as well. I don't think that is normal. Most probably you are experiencing an OS delay or lag. I own a couple of Samsung tablets and I have original Samsung keyboards or cases on them, and even one of them until recently was using a non original case and still the screen was waking up instantly by just opening the case. I know it's quite not the same as a laptop, but with the original case they are almost like a laptop. The settings are like that by default. Worths getting it checked. Try restarting it first and diagnostics and troubleshooting from the laptops system, maybe it will point you out to what is causing the delay. Memory not overwhelmed and everything ok? Using original cables and charging brick?
