Error message when installing the latest version of Samsung Magician 9.0.1.950

Hi,

I'm using a Samsung 980 PRO 2TB NVMe SSD. During the Samsung Magician installation, I get the following error messages and the installation aborts. I disabled my antivirus software before installation to rule that out.

After click on [ OK ] the setup close. I highlighted the different target folders of the program in yellow, among other things?!?

What should I do? How can I install this program?

1. Clear the Locked Folder in Safe Mode
The installer may be failing because a folder from a previous attempt is "locked" by the system.

Boot into Safe Mode: Restart your computer in Safe Mode.
Locate the Folder: Go to C:\ProgramData\Samsung\.
Take Ownership/Delete: If you see a "Samsung Magician" or "PB" folder, take ownership of it and delete it.
Reboot & Install: Restart your computer normally and attempt the installation again.

2. Move the Installer to the Desktop
Strangely, many users found that moving the .exe installer out of the "Downloads" folder before running it fixed the error.

Create a new, empty folder on your Desktop.
Move the Samsung Magician installer .exe into this new folder.
Right-click the .exe and select "Run as administrator".

3. Use an Older Version
If you are trying to install version 8.2 or higher, there is a known bug where the software creates folders with system-only rights, locking out its own installer.

Try installing Version 8.1 or 7.2, which often bypasses these specific permission issues.
Once installed, you can try updating from within the app itself.

4. Perform a Clean Reinstall
If a previous version was present, it might have left corrupted registry keys or services.
Stop Services: Open services.msc and stop any service named "Samsung Magician Service" or "magiciansatamodereader".
Clean Registry: Delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Samsung Magician (or WOW6432Node\Samsung Magician for 64-bit systems) before trying again.

I did all what you suggested without success. The error message appears again and again.

Where can I download the version 8.1 ?

I found 8.1 and installed this version without any problem. Nevertheless: the newest version can't be installed over 8.1 -> error message appears like my first topic.

I'm leaving version 8.1 installed and won't attempt any further updates!
