My wife bought me a Samsing ES28 a few years back, which I love. 

However, I hardly ever used it as it automatically drained my battery almost straight away.

Can anyone advise me which batteries I should use for longevity, that will give me the opportunity to get some use from the camera

Try well named / known alkaline (starting with the letter D and ending in CELL 😊 ) or NIMH Rechargeable Batteries
