Hello community
This is my first post here so I hope I do not fail in the communities etiquette for posting.
I have just installed a 1TB Crucial SSD in to my brothers notebook. A Chronos 7 NP700Z5C-S01UK and installed the OS by cloning an image I had previously taken. The OS works fine and is activated and now fully updated. I used the opportunity to setup the new SSD as GPT structure and switched the enable UEFI on in the BIOS.
The issue we have, although apparently it started happening quite a while ago on the old drive I have since found out. The power on button does not work on the first press. It flashes the LED's and then sits on a blank screen. press and hold to power off then press Power On again and it will power up correctly and fully boot up.
I have found information online that suggests UEFI mode in these bios'es can cause issues. So I have been searching on the Samsung site to try to find a BIOS update.
I have found and downloaded the BIOS update utility for this laptop and run it in Windows 10. It states it has BIOS P02AAG installed and suggests there is an update available. I downloaded this updated BIOS to install manually.
P05AAG, however, confirming this as the correct BIOS Samsung's site states this update is for the NP700Z5C-S03UK and not for the S01UK suffix model.
Is this file actually the correct BIOS update for my brothers notebook. I can manually find files for the -S01US or S01UB suffixed models but I don't want to risk bricking his computer if the BIOS files are not fully compatible.
If anyone can help with this situation it would be much appreciated. Most of the utilities and software on the Samsung site for this model will not install or run in Windows 10, however, the BIOS update utility does, but can I trust the update file it suggests.
