Bought HW - SB60 /XU soundbar in May 2024 and it's been great - very full sound, even without any kind of on/standby indicator light. It is connected to our Samsung TV via an optical cable and an HDMI cable connected to the TV's EARC socket.

Recently it has started turning itself off automatically when we've been watching TV for about an hour or so. Volume is never low enough for the soundbar to assume that there's no input being received. Switches straight back on with the remote, but thought it really shouldn't do that, so scoured Samsung's support pages for a firmware update, in case that was the solution. Managed to download and decompress one onto a USB stick and then found the soundbar's Service port will only take a USB micro B plug. Ordered a short lead with socket on Ebay and when it came plugged in the USB stick. Upgrade instructions say the soundbar will read the upgrade file and run automatically. Nada! Tried several times. Next I read that if the soundbar is connected to WiFi it will download and process upgrades automatically. Installed Smart Things app on my phone and got the soundbar connected to my WiFi. No way of telling what it's doing or checking the installed/current firmware version.

Contacted Samsung tech support who are helpful but really have no idea how these things work. I have been asked to send them a 10-15 second video of the soundbar when it turns off. Given that it normally shows no lights at all, I can't see how this will make any difference.

Comments/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,
Try Below

A Samsung soundbar turning off on its own is often due to its power-saving feature, which activates when there's no audio signal for a set period. It could also be related to firmware issues, connection problems, or settings like Auto Power Link.

Here's a breakdown of potential causes and solutions:

1. Power Saving Feature:

Automatic Shutdown:

Many Samsung soundbars have a built-in feature that automatically turns them off after a period of inactivity, typically 15-20 minutes, to save energy.

Volume Level:

If the volume is very low, the soundbar might interpret it as no audio signal and shut down.

Troubleshooting:

Check the soundbar's manual for instructions on disabling or adjusting the automatic power-off feature.

Ensure the volume is set to an audible level or consider using a different input source with consistent audio.

If the issue persists, try updating the soundbar's firmware or resetting it.
